Aten ACT6000

Advanced Single-Ended and End-to-End Copper Pairs Testing

  • Advanced Copper Pair testing up to 30Mhz
  • Automatic Single Ended Line Tests
  • Powerful TDR for detecting line anomalies
  • Spectrum Analyser with High Impedance PSD Measurements
  • Resistive Bridgew Fault Locator

Aten ACT6000

Automatic Single-Ended Line Qualification

Using the ASW-1 software option, users can perform automatic tests that perform a complete set of single ended electrical and transmissive tests to qualify the line for a specific service. Being able to perform single ended tests with the ACT6000 provides a significant advantage over other tests and testers, with no need for a remote tester or technician at the far end. In addition to the basic electrical and transmission tests, S/N Ratio and maximum Bit-Rate estimations tests are added to the test sequence for ADSL, ADSL2+ and VDSL2 services. The complete Single-Ended test sequence takes under 2 minutes  with a test summary screen showing the results according to the international acceptability criteria and transmission masks (ETSI or ANSI).

ACT6000

Spectrum & Network Analyser

The ACT6000 is able to perform real time transmissive measurements using  a powerful spectrum analyser. Spectral analysis is possible from 200Hz to 6Mhz, or up to 30Mhz with the EBM30 Module. The real-time graphical capability of the spectrum analyser provides users with a quick and easy method of checking pairs for performance before deployment of services.

Power Spectral Density

Using the High Impedance mode and non-intrusive probes, it is possible to perform PSD measurements to verify the spectrum and energy of any digital stream (i.e. to extrapolate the ADSL, ADSL2+ and VDSL2 profile). By connecting the instrument in parallel with the active powered line it is possible to perform quick signal maps on the Main Distribution Frame or Street Cabinet without disturbing the underlying service. This mode of operation is ideal when users need to check if broadband services are present on pairs, and verify the service type and signal level.

ACT6000

Spectral Noise

The spectrum analyser capability of the ACT600 enables noise measurements on pairs, helping identify sources of noise that may affect performance, and helping to eliminate these. When there are spikes of noise these can often be from sources outside of the pair under test, more uniformly spread noise tends to be caused from crosstalk and other interferers from with inside the pair/bundle.

ACT6000

TDR

A powerful TDR allows for quick identification of the End-of-Line and location of possible faults or anomalies such as: interruptions, short circuits, low insulation, bridge-taps, split-pairs, and also possible micro-interruptions, with an operating range of 2 to 8,000 meters. In addition the unit offers a Resistive Bridge - Fault Locator capability that allows for visualisation of different low insulation problems.

Telephone/POTS Simulator

With the optional Telephone/POTS module the ACT6000 can emulate a standard telephone, both making and receiving calls.

ACT6000

Return Loss

As the impedance of pairs vary according to the length of the loop, the type of insulation and other factors, Return Loss Measurements provide the user with an indication of the quality of the pair under test, and potential problems due to signal degradation. The ACT6000 provides a real time view of the insertion loss of pairs, with pass/fail masks displayed for the service type selected in the test setup.

Longitudinal Balance

Communications circuits are balanced circuits where each side of the pair should be equally balanced to ground, Any inbalance can introduce noise on to the circuit and can affect performance of the service running on that pair. Users are able to view a real time view of the longitudinal balance of a pair and determine pass/fails using the masks displayed for the service type selected.

ACT6000

Automatic Double-Ended Line Qualification

Using the ASW-1/II software option users can perform bidirectional End to End transmissive tests using two ACT6000 units. With one unit placed in slave mode technicians can control and carry out comprehensive line certifications from one end with the local ACT6000 controlling the remote unit in-band. When running DELT tests there are no length limits imposed on the tests being run.

Digital MultiMeter (DMM)

The Digital Multimeter provides Voltage, Resistance and Capacitance measurements pn three poles (a-b-c{Gnd}), to verify electrical parameters of the line under test and to help localise possible faults and anomalies.

ACT6000

The ACT6000 is an advanced communications tester for qualification and certification of symmetric copper pairs used for communications services up to 30Mhz for a variety of different applications and industries. Able to perform quick and easy “Single-Ended Line Tests" without the need for a second tester, the ACT6000 simplifies the testing of copper pairs for users. For other specific “End-to-End Line Tests" the ACT6000 can be used with another ACT6000 in order to carry out detailed advanced tests. Widely used by companies in the Rail sector for data communications testing, Air Traffic for  Voice and Data communications, Electricity suppliers for data and speech transport (Power Line Communications), Highway/Transport for data communications, and Telephone and Broadband Service providers for POTS and broadband testing.

FAQS

Q:
Do you need two ACT6000's to carry out tests
A:

Is depends on the type of tests you want to run, with the Advanced Software option you can run Single Ended Tests (SELT) which only require one unit. The SELT test allows you to run single ended tests for:

  • Voltage, Resistance, Capacitance
  • Noise
  • Return Loss
  • Longitudinal Balance
  • Insertion Loss
Q:
What is the frequency band of the ACT6000
A:

The ACT6000 can measure between 50 Hz to 6 MHz as standard, or with the EBM30 module up to 35Mhz

Q:
Does the ACT6000 come equipped with a TDR as standard
A:

Yes, the TDR function is standard on the base product.
