Key Capabilities

Twisted Pair Certification

The TestPro CV100 can certify operation of CAT5e through CAT8 structured cabling installations to all relevant standards and boasts the industry's fastest CAT6A auto test at just 6 seconds. On site time is optimised by providing fully featured units for both the Main and Remote testers and by enabling instant confirmation of continuity and mapping, initiation of autotests and access to full results from either end of the link. One main unit can talk to multiple Remote units to enable even faster testing with one technician. Auto Start and Auto Save options provide for the ultimate in testing speed, boosting productivity on a typical test run to the maximum possible with the TestPro units taking care of everything except making and breaking connections.

Results Management PC Software

TestDataPro is the PC based results and test reports management software package that comes as standard with all models of Testpro CV100. TestDataPro works in tandem with TestPro, which allows you to define projects and categorize test results into logical groupings once uploaded into the database. The database provides you with the ability to collaborate effectively by viewing in-depth test details on-line and rapidly provide .pdf based printed reports. It also allows you to combine multiple Autotests into a single report, such as Cat6A, Multi-Gig and PoE.

Live Wiremap

Studies have shown that a large percentage of all cabling faults are related to miswiring. Both main and remote units of TestPro graphically report the end-to-end wiremap instantaneously when a connection is detected. After getting instant view of the wiring fault, the technician can find the location of the fault simply by clicking the wiremap picture. And after resolving the issue, TestPro's Live Wiremap reporting helps to verify the fix instantly. In addition to 6-seconds CAT6A Autotest, this is another important productivity improvement feature of TestPro.

Transverse Conversion Loss

While the RF field test parameters mandated by TIA and ISO adequately confirm the cable's standalone performance, more testing is needed to confirm the immunity of the cable in presence of external electromagnetic interference (EMI). EMI is caused by alien crosstalk from adjacent cables, noise from wireless communications systems, or even vehicles driving nearby. TCL (transverse conversion loss) which is a measure of how well the wires constituting a cabling pair are matched and is an important parameter to confirm the EMI immunity of the cable. TestPro measures and reportes TCL from both ends in every Autotest without requiring additional measurement time. That means, a 6-second CAT6A Autotest includes TCL measurement.

DC Unbalance

When a cable is used for PoE, it is important to ensure that DC resistance of all wires is closely matched. Differences of resistance between pairs, or between wires within a pair can cause degradation in RF performance, or excessive heating. TestPro's 6-second autotest includes full characterization of DC resistance parameters, including all combinations of loop resistance, pair-to-pair resistance unbalance, and wire-to-wire resistance unbalance.

Network Connectivity Testing

To support and manage moves/adds/changes to live networks the TestPro CV100 will also connect through the platform's built-in 10/100/1000 network interface or through the optional WiFi interface. (No test adaptors needed) An auto-discovery function promptly displays connected devices or Wireless Access Points. Ping any other device on the local network or internet to confirm connectivity and determine latency. Drill in to discovered devices for more detailed support information.

Those involved in network cable and infrastructure installation need to be able to verify and certificate correct operation and performance of their work in order to satisfy client requirements and enable warranties. A range of optional detachable test modules enable a raft of test functions allowing the product to easily both match current and scale to future requirements.

Q:
Can I test cables longer than 100 metres?
A:

Industrial networks and some cross campus links use longer cable lengths than the 100m specifications from TIA or ISO. IEEE has started a new project to specify parameters for long cables including long single-pair cables. TestPro is the only cable certifier that has the capability to test cables as long as 1,000 m (1 km). For long cables, the RF performance at lower frequencies is very important. TestPro measures RF parameters down to 100 kHz or 0.1 MHz (as against 1 MHz for other cable certifiers). The standard Autotest supports cables up to 600 metres, a special Long Cable test is used for cables between 500 and 1000 metres.

Is single pair Ethernet supported?

The use of Single-pair Ethernet (SPE) is growing fast for connecting IoT sensors and other devices. TestPro is the first and the only cable certifier enabling testing of Single-pair Ethernet systems. TestPro also allows specifying limits for SPE based on current IEEE specifications.

Q:
Can TestPro help me trace cable routes and locate connected sockets?
A:

Yes, TestPro has a built in Tone Generation function operating at 500Hz and 781Hz. Any brand of Tone Probe Receivers/Tracers can be used together with TestPro Tone Generator function to identify Cable connectivity to a specific Panel Port, or locate cable routing hidden behind a wall or ceiling panel. The tones are generated on all 8 conductors to ensure good cable location function regardless of possible wire map issues.
